SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE GOP LAWSUIT AGAINST BRITA HORN ET AL NOT OVER!

The not very bright new chair of the CO GOP, Brita Horn, assumed that her election as chair meant any litigation against her by the party was over. Guess again. The party is suing her and the others who falsely claimed that they were the real o icers of the state GOP due to a meeting which an El Paso District Court found to be fraudulent. In the lawsuit the GOP requested repayment for the cost in defending against the false claims of Horn and others. Horn failed to file a timely Answer not understanding that her role as Party Chair is di erent than her role as a private individual. The $100,000 plus she may owe to the GOP is a Party asset she cannot simply cancel because she is Party Chair. The GOP anticipated such a move and gave an investigating committee (the “Anti-Corruption Investigating Committee”) the right to pursue the claim against her. Horn is attempting to have her personal attorney who made an appearance on her behalf also be the Party’s attorney in the action. She thus is claiming her attorney is the attorney for both the Plainti and a Defendant in the action which is not clearly not allowed. Horn is now racking up large legal fees just as she did when she was Routt County Treasurer but the State Party does not have the funds to pay them. What a start as the new Party Chair. On April 7th Horn sent out her first communication as GOP Chair to the members the State Executive Committee and the State Central Committee. It was a panicked screed about how she was now terminating and disbanding the “holdover rogue” Anti-Corruption Investigation Committee. Unfortunately for her, only the SEC can do that subject to appeal to the SCC as a whole. At the end of her communique, she even acknowledged that this was a sad, if not pathetic, first communication to the members of the SEC and the SCC for the purported new “unification” Chair. RINOWatch Colorado will keep our readers apprised of the progress of the lawsuit.
